.Mercan DedeMultidisciplinary Explorer
Mercan Dede (a.k.a Arkin Allen) believes that when you put digital, electronic sounds together with hand-made, human ones, you can create universal language, capable of uniting old and young, ancient and modern, East and West. It’s a bold claim, but the Turkish-born and Montreal-based musician/producer/DJ has the career and the music to back it up. When he takes the stage with his group Secret Tribe, he hovers at the side behind his turntables and electronics, occasionally picking up a traditional wooden flute, or ney to float in sweet, breathy melodies, while masters of the kanun (zither), clarinet, darbuka (hand drum) and whatever other instruments he’s decided to include that night, ornament his grooves and spin magical, trance melodies to match the whirling of the group’s spectacular dervish dancer, Mira Burke.
Under 9 different names, he has released more than 100 singles world wide. Mercan Dede, Arkin Allen, Blueman and Poundmaker aside, he still keeps 5 other names secret even from his own management and family; believing that nothing should stand between sound and the ear, include the artist himself.
Mercan Dede is keen on bring his extraordinary music and stagecraft to the entire world feeling that its inclusive spirit carries a profound message of understanding and reconciliation. ‘I don’t like the separation,’ says Dede. ‘The Sufi poet Rumi has a very good saying: ‘If you are everywhere, you are nowhere. If you are somewhere, you are everywhere.’ My somewhere is my heart. I try to figure it out. The rest’the hype, the trends’they are not important. We are here for nothing else but Love, the rest is nothing but bunch of gossip” If music does not make us a better person even in a small way, who cares if you are the best musician in the world. I prefer to be someone who follows his heart no matter where it goes. Succes is not something to which I aspire but rather I accept as simply a wonderful gift of life from the Creator as a recogniton of my naive and simple believe that with music we can help ourselves and others in a most humble way.
Whether as Mercan Dede with his Secret Tribe or dj Arkin Allen with his tribal trio; he is one of the most unique artist uniting many people from different backgrounds regardless of their age, cultural background or personal differences never failing to impress his audiences with the explosive energy he creates on stage. He is rightly recognized as one of the most creative, unique yet modest artists in the world music scene today.

Since our launch, we have been navigating many topics, from the future of humanity to conscious organisations. For our 7th event, we invite you to get to the bottom of it all. We invite you to an experience of Radical Love.
Step out of the circle of time
And into the circle of love.
The personal and systemic changes for our desired futures begin with love. Radical Love.
Love is not only a romantic or spiritual concept. It is not only what you feel for your romantic partner or family. Love is about relationships. We live in a world of relationships and we exist in relationships; your relationship with yourself and with others in your community, in your business and everything that you learn and experience. All healthy relationships are, in one way or another, based on love.
“We know the way of power – power through domination, power through discipline, power through compulsion. Through political power we hope to change fundamentally; but such power only breeds further darkness, disintegration, evil, the strengthening of the ‘me’. We are familiar with the various forms of acquisition, both individually and as groups, but we have never tried the way of love, and we don’t even know what it means. Love is not possible so long as there is the thinker, the centre of the ‘me’.”
What is the way of love? What is one to do to try the way of love?
AN EVENT ALL ABOUT LOVE, IN LOVE
This two hour event will be our way to discover how to reawaken the love within all of us, and let Radical Love enter our lives and work, with consciousness.
We will navigate through these questions;
- What is love? Is love a movement of time and thought?
- Is love a biological phenomenon, a cultural one or something beyond the two?
- How does social distancing affect the way we experience love?
- How can we love ourselves radically?
- Why focus on love? What is the importance of it?
- What is the relationship of love in creativity and art?
- How does one practice love in everyday life and work? What are our expressions of love?
- What are the barriers to love in our personal and societal lives?
- Can we (un)learn barriers against love and (re)learn to love? And how?
- How can we flourish love for each other (Earthlings and Nature)?
- What does love have to do with business? Can we design and innovate for love? Love brands? Love products? Love communities?
- Is there a way to make it accessible for all and practise it in business? What are the best cases / company examples?
- Does love make you dependent on others? Or is love freeing?
- How the technology is changing the way we love?
